How each one charges you
A slot takes a fixed stake per spin. You commit, the reels resolve, and the result is measured against a locked RTP tier. A fishing shooter takes a bullet cost per shot, and you decide how many shots to fire and at what value — so your turnover is a product of pace and bullet size rather than a single per-round stake. That is the first, biggest divergence: one has a defined round, the other is a continuous stream.
Fixed return versus a drifting one
On a slot, the return is set: the operator deploys one RTP tier and it does not move with your choices. On a fishing shooter, the effective return drifts with how you play — chase bosses with heavy bullets and your variance and effective return shift; farm small fish and they shift the other way. That is why fishing RTP is usually quoted as a band, not a single number.

Why a strategy for one fails at the other
Bankroll ideas that make sense on a high-variance slot — small stakes to survive to a bonus — do not map cleanly onto a fishing table, where there is no single bonus to survive to and turnover accrues shot by shot. And the arcade instincts a fishing game rewards — pick your target, time your special cannon — have no equivalent on a reel set, where your only lever is stake size.
Different as they are, both keep a fixed house edge and both draw every outcome from an RNG. Neither model has a memory, neither is 'due', and neither converts skill into a positive expected return. The maths differs; the bottom line does not.
